Dr. Pam Patterson, PCC

Senior Coaching Fellow and Director

Faculty, Professional Certificate in Leadership Coaching and Advanced Coaching Programs

Pam Patterson is Associate Vice President of University Life at George Mason University and has 25+ years of combined experience in leadership and university administration.  She is also a Senior Coaching Fellow at the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being where she co-directs the Advanced Coaching Program in Leadership and Well-Being.  Dr. Patterson is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Leadership Coaching Program.  She is an executive leadership coach certified through the International Coaching Federation with the credential of Professional Certified Coach (PCC). Her professional interests are in the science and application of individual and organizational well-being, leadership, and coaching.  Dr. Patterson received her Strengths Specialist Certification through The Gallup Organization and is also licensed and certified by the Institute of HeartMath as a Resilience Advantage Trainer. At George Mason, she was a member of a team that created and implemented a leader development curriculum for executive education and a separate program for faculty and staff. She is a co-founder and co-chair of MasonLeads, the Leadership Legacy Program, and serves as co-director of Mason's Strengths Academy.  She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern Illinois University and earned her doctorate in higher education from George Mason University.

Strozzi-Heckler 

Dr. Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Senior Scholar

Faculty, Advanced Coaching Program

Richard Strozzi-Heckler has a Ph.D. in Psychology and a sixth degree black belt in Aikido.  He is a nationally known speaker, coach and consultant on leadership and mastery.  He is the Founder of Strozzi Institute, which offers consulting and coaching services to individuals and companies on five continents.  Over the past forty years he has coached and advised thousands of executives from Fortune 500 companies, NGOs, technology start-ups, the U.S. government and military.

Dr. Strozzi-Heckler was featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal for the leadership program he designed and implemented for the U.S. Marine Corps. He was named one of the Top 50 Executive Coaches in The Art and Practice of Leadership Coaching, Jossey-Bass, and Profiles in Coaching, Linkage Publications.  He was a William Dickson Leader in Residence at California State University at Long Beach from 2009-2012.  He is also the Honorary President of the Peruvian Coaching Association.  From 2002 to 2007 he was an advisor to NATO and the Supreme Allied Commander of Europe (SACEUR) General Jim Jones, and the National Security Advisor.

Dr. Strozzi-Heckler is the author of 8 books including the nationally acclaimed The Leadership DojoIn Search of the Warrior Spiritand The Art of Somatic Coaching: Embodying Skillful Action, Wisdom, and Compassion.

 

Ellen Fulton, MCC, Coaching Fellow and Director of Training

As a Coaching Fellow at George Mason University’s Center for the Advancement of Well-Being, Ellen Fulton brings her expertise to a variety of outstanding educational opportunities. Serving as Co-Director for the Advanced Coaching Program in Leadership and Well-Being and past Director of the Mason Institute for Leadership Excellence, Ellen is thrilled to be an integral part of the Professional Certificate in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well-Being.  Ellen is also Managing Partner of the Washington Coaching Group.  As a coach, Ellen works with clients to improve their intellectual and emotional flexibility while increasing awareness around leadership presence.  People who enjoy working with her have a desire to move from basic management toward robustly leading and inspiring.  Ellen challenges clients to reflect on their strengths, areas for growth, values, and interpersonal skills to help them align action plans that maximize strategic goals providing sustainable change. She brings her fervency for strengths-based leadership and well-being to all that she does. Her 25+ years of experience in teaching, management, and leadership coaching fuel her desire to act as a catalyst for growth and success. Ellen’s work leads her into a variety of industries, including the federal government, corporations, small businesses, non-profits, and universities.

Penny Potter

Dr. Penny Potter, PCC

Senior Coaching Fellow, Director of Executive Education, Mason Institute of Leadership Excellence (MILE)

Before accepting her position as Director of Executive Education and the Mason Institute of Leadership Excellence (MILE), Dr. Penny Potter was a strengths-based consultant, coach, and program manager for private and public organizations. Her work has focused on helping leaders maximizing performance, while maintaining balance, personal satisfaction, and engagement. As a former senior leader in two consulting companies and now George Mason University, Penny understands the challenges of leading well in high-pressure situations. She uses these experiences as an instructor to ensure her classes are grounded in both scholarship and “real world” solutions. Penny's research focuses on the transformation and development that occurs when one becomes a coach. Her doctorate is in Human and Organizational Systems. In addition to her doctorate, Penny holds a M.S. in Organizational Development and Knowledge Management from George Mason University, and a B.S. in Psychology from James Madison University. She received her coaching certification from Georgetown University and her Professional Certified Coach (PCC) accreditation from the International Coach Federation. 

 
 

Louis Alloro, MAPP, MEd

Faculty, Advanced Coaching Program

Louis Alloro is a change-agent working with individuals and systems to enable positive evolution. He is one of the first one hundred people in the world to earn a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Senior Fellow at George Mason University's Center for the Advancement of Well-Being and owns a NYC-based consultancy, which partners in the SOMO Leadership Movement, a city-wide intervention in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

Dr. Nance Lucas

Faculty, Professional Certificate in Leadership Coaching and Advanced Coaching Programs

Nance Lucas is the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being and Associate Professor of New Century College at George Mason University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park with a concentration in leadership studies and ethics. Her teaching and scholarship interests focus on leadership, well-being, strengths and character development. She is co-author of a best-selling book, Exploring Leadership: For College Students Who Want To Make A Difference and contributing author of Leadership Reconsidered and The Social Change Model of Leadership Development. Nance is the co-founder of the Mason Institute for Leadership Excellence and MasonLeads. Dr. Lucas serves as a co-principal investigator for a research project on Creating Communities of Authenticity in Higher Education and received a Strengths Coach Certification from The Gallup Organization.

 

Mary Elizabeth Lynch, MS, JD

Faculty, Advanced Coaching Program

Mary Elizabeth is an educator, conflict transformation specialist, and an attorney/mediator. She holds a master's degree in philosophy and is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. For 15 years, she practiced law and mediated legal disputes in the areas of employment and family law. In 2001, Mary Elizabeth co-founded and now serves as president of the Personal Transformation and Courage Institute. This non-profit educational organization specializes in helping individuals and groups build capacity to overcome attitudinal and emotional blocks to greater health, creativity, and the expression of one's gifts and talents. Mary Elizabeth developed and now runs a year- long, cohort-based training program for people seeking personal and professional development. She is also an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate students the principles of personal transformation and conflict resolution. Mary Elizabeth is a life-long practitioner of meditation. She believes that mindfulness practices are the foundation for personal and professional well-being and transformation.

 

Chris Wahl, MA, MCC

Faculty, Advanced Coaching Program

Chris Wahl is certified as a Master Coach through the International Coach Federation and is certified as a developmental coach through the Interdevelopmental Institute.  She earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology and French from the University of Tennessee, and a Master’s in Counseling from George Washington University.   Chris founded the Leadership Coaching Program at Georgetown University in 1999 and worked as its director for 12 years. After stepping away from that position, she continues to teach a course on team coaching in the Georgetown program. In addition, Chris has studied Adult Development and its implications for coaching for the past 8 years, and is certified to score the MAP assessment (Maturity Assessment Profile).  Chris teaches a course entitled “Mindful Transitions” at George Mason University in its advanced coaching program, where she marries adult development theory with transition theory.  She brings her awareness of the challenges of transitions for leaders , coupled with her ability to translate and apply adult development theory, to her active coaching practice.  Chris works with  leaders and their teams in various industries  to cultivate and promote well-being while they manage multiple challenges and achieve business results. Chris has written articles on coaching for various publications, she co-authored Be Your Own Coach, and most recently co-edited the second edition of On Becoming a Leadership Coach.

 

W. Cliff Kayser, MSOD, PCC, Coaching Fellow

Faculty, Professional Certificate in Leadership Coaching and Advanced Coaching Programs

Cliff holds Masters Degrees in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development, both from American University. He completed his ICF Coaching Certification at The Georgetown Executive Leadership Coaching Program.  Cliff is a faculty member for George Mason University's Advanced Coaching Program in Leadership and Well-Being.  Cliff is Vice President of Polarity Partnerships, LLC and President and Founder of XPERIENCE, LLC.  He has 25 years of experience in organization development consulting, coaching, and leadership training. Prior to joining Polarity Partnerships in 2012 and launching XPERIENCE, LLC in 2007, Cliff was Vice President of Organizational Development and Training for The National Cooperative Bank (NCB) and spent nearly a decade serving The Washington Post newspaper as Senior Organization Development Consultant and The Washington Post Company as Corporate Manager of Human Resources, Training & Web Development. Cliff is a faculty or adjunct faculty member for: the American University’s Master’s in Organization Development and KEY Executive Leadership Certificate Program, the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, The Federal Executive Institute under the Office of Personnel Management; and, the 2-year Mastery Program in Polarity Thinking.

 

Dr. Angelique Skoulas

Faculty, Advanced Coaching Program

Angelique Skoulas is a facilitator and executive coach specializing in conflict management, and communication. For over 15 years she has worked with leaders in the corporate, non-profit and governmental sectors to improve strategies and develop capacity. Her clients have included The Department of Defense, Johnson and Johnson, The United States Congress, The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Partners HealthCare and The Institute for Diversity in Civic Leadership. Angelique currently runs a leadership course for top scientists at the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases. She is also the co-director of the Graduate Leadership Studies program at Harvard School of Dental Medicine where her research includes studying the impact that courses on effective communication and conflict management have on the career development. Angelique holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry; a Master's in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is a graduate of the Leadership Coaching Program at Georgetown University; and is a credentialed executive coach through the International Coach Federation. She is a former Congressional Fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Michael Rochelle

Michael D. Rochelle, Coaching Fellow

Michael Rochelle is a Coaching Fellow at George Mason University's Center for the Advancement of Well-Being. He is also Lieutenant General (USA, Retired) and is a highly dynamic, effective, leadership executive coach who brings more than 35 years of active duty military leadership in service to the nation, as well as U.S. Army leadership development experience, to bear as an Executive Leadership Coach. He is skilled at partnering with his coaching clients to co-create value from every coaching engagement. Mike Rochelle continues his own growth and development as a coach, having completed Coaching Teams for Sustained Performance, taught by Master Certified Coaches Chris Wahl and Alexander Caillet and SOAR (T3) training, taught by the celebrated author of Language and the Pursuit of Happiness, Chalmers Brothers. Mike’s clients include George Mason University Leadership Legacy Program, Mercaris, Inc., Playa Resorts International, MTCI Consulting, Leadership Arlington and the PAC-12 NCAA Conference. General Rochelle is a graduate of the Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance program at George Mason University, and holds a coaching credential through the International Coaching Federation He is a graduate of Shippensburg University and holds a Masters of Public Administration Degree (MPA).

 

Sarah Happel

Sarah Happel, PCC, Coaching Fellow

Sarah Happel is a top leadership consultant and coach who excels in cultivating excellence in leadership through her work with individuals, teams and organizations.  Formerly an internationally competitive athlete, Sarah helps leaders and executive teams determine winning strategies for their organizations through her work as a coach and facilitator. 

With over 15 years in the field of communication and transition management, Sarah has worked with leaders from 5 continents in 4 languages: German, Spanish, Italian and Finnish.

A graduate of Kansas State University, Sarah was a Fulbright Grantee at the University of Helsinki, has taught Human Communication at Lasell College in Boston, and spent three years as a freelance journalist in Europe.  She has a Master of Science in Communication, and an Advanced Leadership Coaching Certification in Organizational Well-Being from George Mason University.

Founder of Spectrum Leadership Solutions, Sarah is a leader in the field of coaching and leadership development. Known for spearheading thought-provoking cohorts that spark personal and professional transformation, Sarah is also accredited by the International Coach Federation (PCC) and by Georgetown University’s Leadership Coaching acclaimed program.  Sarah resides in Vienna, Virginia with her husband and three sons.

Virginia Diamond, PCC, Coaching Fellow

Virginia Diamond is a Coaching Fellow at the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being at George Mason University and is the founder of Diamond Insight.  Virginia specializes in helping executives and their teams lead in the face of the ever-increasing demands of today’s world.  Using proven methodologies and a practical, business-savvy approach, Virginia helps rising managers and executives: have impact quickly as they transition to new roles; communicate and connect with diverse stakeholders; resolve tough conflicts and implement change in ways that build relationships; avoid group think; focus resources to get traction on goals in the face of competing demands; and integrate work and life.  With this increased capacity, her clients are better equipped to remain grounded, resilient and agile during times of change and uncertainty.

Virginia has more than 20 years of experience working with executives and teams across the public and private sectors. Her clients are highly analytical and committed to their mission. Clients include start-ups, small businesses, and well-established organizations, spanning the professional services firms, IT, the Federal Government, health care industries. Prior to founding Diamond Insight in 2004, Virginia worked for more than ten years in the corporate world for Accenture, AMS (now CGI), and Booz Allen Hamilton. She served on the faculty of Booz Allen Hamilton’s award-winning corporate university, where she taught and supported the design of several of the firm’s core management and leadership courses.

A certified leadership coach and consultant, Virginia combines practical experience with rigorous training. Virginia holds a BA in psychology from the University of Chicago and a certificate in Organizational Development and Change Management from Georgetown University. She has earned coaching certifications from leading organizations in the coaching profession: New Ventures West (PCC), the International Coach Federation (PCC), and the Strozzi Institute (MSC).

Miller

Daphne Miller, PCC, Coaching Fellow

Faculty, Professional Certificate in Leadership Coaching Program

Daphne Miller is an Executive Coach who works with leaders in the federal and for profit arenas. Daphne is a graduate of the Advanced Coaching Program in Leadership and Organizational Well-Being at George Mason University.  Her expertise is in working with individuals and groups with an emphasis on leadership development and developing strong cross discipline partnerships.  She brings more than twenty five years of experience in sales, marketing and leadership positions with the past fourteen in executive coaching and leadership development.  

Daphne was part of the quality team during her tenure with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company during their successful bid for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award.  This effort provided the foundation for her view on the importance of how self-awareness, communication and open exchange within all areas of an organization foster resilient relationships and quality. In her leadership roles with Ritz-Carlton and later Kinko’s Corporate she started her own practices around creating new habits and behaviors that supported sustainable improvement.  She engaged her own coach during these years and came to understand how powerful that relationship could be in supporting her learning and development.

In 2003, she started her own coaching company, DDM Consulting. Since that time, she has worked with hundreds of clients as they create their own paths at work, in leadership and at home.  Daphne respects the coaching relationship and how it can offer new perspectives for coachees and open doors that they may not have ever noticed before.  Daphne challenges and supports her clients to meet their goals through finding new paths in meeting challenges and opportunities.
